Our condolences friends, we have been slacking. Ashley was on her death bed with a terrible, horrible cold. That meant that Kerri had to pick up all the slack at work while Ashley was out and that left no time to blog. We did have a great weekend though and we are ready to share it all with you.
Friday night was very action-packed for both of us. Ashley got to meet up some very good friends from college and had a night out on the town in downtown St. Pete. Kerri was also in St. Pete at the newly renovated Jannus Landing. For any of you that have been to Jannus in the past you need to revisit soon, the renovations are astounding. Kerri went to hear and see Anberlin with Cash Kings and Civil Twilight (an amazing band with yummy South African accents) with two very good music loving girl friends. We met up after the concert and toasted to Ashley’s mini FSU reunion and Kerri’s night of amazing music. It was a fantastic Friday in St. Pete. Concerts and getting together with old friends are a great way to move towards your independence and remember what makes YOU happy.
On Saturday we went to the dog expo and got so much free dog food we don’t have to buy any more for a month. Roxy and Diesel entered into the fashion show because they were wearing their awesome Collars for A Cause FSU and USF collars. They didn’t win anything because come to find out they were up against professional dog models. Yep you read it right, there are actual dog fashion shows and 2 of them had come up all the way from West Palm Beach. Never in our lives have we seen so many dog strollers and miniature dogs, if that is what you want to call them. We felt very out of place with our 70lb dogs but it is nice to give back to the ones that truly do give us unconditional LOVE. There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. ~Ben Williams
Kerri finished her first 10k trail race this Sunday and didn’t break anything, come in last or walk! She had to climb up a cliff and run through water, over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house she went. Ashley being the supportive trooper that she is came out at 8am in 60 degree weather to cheer on Kerri cross the finish line. After the race we to the bike bash at Flatwoods but not without some minor issues first. Upon our arrival we realized Kerri left her ipod at the race, so we drove back 30 min, to thankfully find it. We made a pit stop at a fast food chain (name will remain anonymous) I know disgusting but we were starving and heck Kerri just ran 10k. Then while Kerri was pumping her tire she experienced her first blow up. Ladies we have all been that damsel in distress and want nothing more than our knight in shining armor to save us. And instead of contacting the one man that Kerri has relied on in the past and that she knew could make everything all better (her ex) we found our own Knight in Shining Armor. Ruben was a gracious gentleman that offered to give us and our bikes a ride to the bike maintenance tent where his friend Carlos from University Bike fixed her tire for free. We know it is hard to believe that anything in life is free but sometimes there are genuinely nice people out there. We should always treat others with respect and graciousness because maybe you don’t have a flat today, but one day you will have a blow out and hopefully you will meet people like Ruben and Carlos. Remember ladies treat others as you want them to treat you because what goes around comes around. After our flat tire issue, ipod found and ready to burn off the absurdly amount of calories we had eaten we rode the Flatwoods loop which is 7 miles. Ashley had not ridden a bike in 7 years and the wind was pretty strong and as dismal as it sounds she thought she was going to die. So much so that she didn’t even want to go to Nordstrom’s for their annual shoe sale!!!
So ladies let us remember:
Forget the times of your distress, but never forget what they taught you - Herbert Gasser
