One door opens and another one closes

Happy Monday!

Kerri had two of her figure skating students skate in a competition this weekend, and they performed their best and placed first in their event!  Coaching is a passion that Kerri has and there is nothing is better than seeing all your hard work pay off.  It is important that we remember that good things come to those that wait and in this case to those that work hard.  Speaking of hard work, Ashley has been working hard on her Master’s degree and this weekend she had to style an inspired look from a thrift store.  Fortunately, she had a remarkable model Kerri to style in the 2010 version of June Cleaver.  The outfit was adorable and cost no more than $28.  So next time you look in your closet and you say, “I have nothing to wear” take a trip to the local thrift store.  One person’s trash is another person’s treasure and with the right styling you can have a knock out look!

Saturday night was the best $2 spent to get into an event ever!   We went to a local art show at the Ritz in Ybor City to soak up the sophistication and the fabulocity.  We were surrounded by fierce artwork and a wonderful local band, 10th Concession.  We experienced a new favorite drink, the Berlin which is Three Olives Grape and Tonic with lime, yummy.   Luckily (I was wearing my luck scrunchie, haha Legally Blond) we were some of the few strait girls at the event and even landed free shots from the cutie patootie bartender.

Sunday was recuperation day.  Some days we need a day to gather our thoughts and just get re-aligned on our path.  Each day ask we need to remember to ask ourselves this simple question to know if we are continuing on the path that we envision for ourselves, how am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I'm dreaming of?  What are you dreaming of?  What do you crave and desire for your future and how are you going to achieve it?

The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.  ~Flora Whittemore

Thursday - Week 2 of Bootcamp on Bayshore with Kerri and friends

Take Me As You Found Me

Our condolences friends, we have been slacking.  Ashley was on her death bed with a terrible, horrible cold.   That meant that Kerri had to pick up all the slack at work while Ashley was out and that left no time to blog. We did have a great weekend though and we are ready to share it all with you.

Friday night was very action-packed for both of us. Ashley got to meet up some very good friends from college and had a night out on the town in downtown St. Pete.  Kerri was also in St. Pete at the newly renovated Jannus Landing.   For any of you that have been to Jannus in the past you need to revisit soon, the renovations are astounding.  Kerri went to hear and see Anberlin with Cash Kings and Civil Twilight (an amazing band with yummy South African accents) with two very good music loving girl friends.  We met up after the concert and toasted to Ashley’s mini FSU reunion and Kerri’s night of amazing music.  It was a fantastic Friday in St. Pete.  Concerts and getting together with old friends are a great way to move towards your independence and remember what makes YOU happy.

On Saturday we went to the dog expo and got so much free dog food we don’t have to buy any more for a month. Roxy and Diesel entered into the fashion show because they were wearing their awesome Collars for A Cause FSU and USF collars.  They didn’t win anything because come to find out they were up against professional dog models. Yep you read it right, there are actual dog fashion shows and 2 of them had come up all the way from West Palm Beach. Never in our lives have we seen so many dog strollers and miniature dogs, if that is what you want to call them.  We felt very out of place with our 70lb dogs but it is nice to give back to the ones that truly do give us unconditional LOVE.  There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.  ~Ben Williams

Kerri finished her first 10k trail race this Sunday and didn’t break anything, come in last or walk!  She had to climb up a cliff and run through water, over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house she went.  Ashley being the supportive trooper that she is came out at 8am in 60 degree weather to cheer on Kerri cross the finish line.  After the race we to the bike bash at Flatwoods but not without some minor issues first.  Upon our arrival we realized Kerri left her ipod at the race, so we drove back 30 min, to thankfully find it. We made a pit stop at a fast food chain (name will remain anonymous) I know disgusting but we were starving and heck Kerri just ran 10k. Then while Kerri was pumping her tire she experienced her first blow up.  Ladies we have all been that damsel in distress and want nothing more than our knight in shining armor to save us.  And instead of contacting the one man that Kerri has relied on in the past and that she knew could make everything all better (her ex) we found our own Knight in Shining Armor.  Ruben was a gracious gentleman that offered to give us and our bikes a ride to the bike maintenance tent where his friend Carlos from University Bike fixed her tire for free. We know it is hard to believe that anything in life is free but sometimes there are genuinely nice people out there.  We should always treat others with respect and graciousness because maybe you don’t have a flat today, but one day you will have a blow out and hopefully you will meet people like Ruben and Carlos.  Remember ladies treat others as you want them to treat you because what goes around comes around.  After our flat tire issue, ipod found and ready to burn off the absurdly amount of calories we had eaten we rode the Flatwoods loop which is 7 miles.  Ashley had not ridden a bike in 7 years and the wind was pretty strong and as dismal as it sounds she thought she was going to die.  So much so that she didn’t even want to go to Nordstrom’s for their annual shoe sale!!!

So ladies let us remember:

It’s The Little Things

It’s amazing how such a small thing can put smiles on our faces.  Today we took an excursion to Bed Bath & Beyond to cash in a $25 gift card that we won for our astounding Halloween costume, Elvis and Priscilla.  We originally were looking for a bulletin board or a dry erase board because who doesn’t like drawing on dry erase board!  Nevertheless we stumbled on a much more electrifying find, the Tervis Tumbler.  “Always Full of Fun” is how they advertise these amazing cups, and let us tell you they are spot on.  It’s a lot more thrilling drinking water from a cup supporting your favorite sports team, donning your initial, paying homage to your favorite past time or celebrating each holiday in style.   Not only are they full of fun but they have the most amazing replacement policy, Tervis Tumblers are made for life.  So should you leave your cup on the stove burner trying to make ramen noodles, run over it with your car, accidentally chuck it out a 4 story building aiming for nemesis or let your dog use it as a chew toy it is guaranteed for LIFE.  I am not sure for whose life it is guaranteed for but we suggest putting it in your will just in case.

So ladies lets all strive to be like the Tervis Tumbler - Virtually unbreakable

Also remember to appreciate the little things in your like that make a big difference.

That which does not kill us makes us stronger.

This weekend we have it jam packed full of fun that we will be sure to update you all on Monday and of course feel free to join in on the fun.

On Belay...Ready To Climb...Climb On...Climbing!

Yesterday we went indoor rock climbing at Vertical Ventures in Tampa.  Wednesday is ladies night which is half price for all the lovely ladies, in this economy well take whatever savings we can get.  Jorge our fabulous teacher informed us that it was not rock climbing since there are no actual rocks. But to us FL girls this is the closet to boulders we will get anytime soon.  He also called Kerri out for not paying attention, but who could pay attention with the monkey climbing on the wall behind us.  The rock climbing experience was amazing. Readers prepare we are getting a lil cheesey today. We were completely out of our comfort zones and had to trust and rely on each other for support. Quite honestly it could have been the best 2 hours any of us have had in a long time, and by long time we mean 3 days. We were so focused on climbing and making it to the top that was the only thing on our minds.  We cannot describe the feeling that goes through you when you reach for that last rock at the top and look down at what you accomplished. It was exhilarating. We can’t wait to go back and improve our climbing skills and who knows maybe one day we will go ROCK climbing.   This quote perfectly explains the feelings that we experienced climbing.  In the words of the wonderful Oprah Winfrey, ‘Living in the moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift.’ We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to live in the moment and do something that we have always wanted to try.
So ladies if you have the opportunity to go climbing DO IT and let us know about your experience.

After all this cheesy stuff it is only appropriate to close up with some thing hilarious….Yesterday’s Funniest one liner: She’s like the fish that jumps into the boat.  Ladies let’s not be that fish!

The Koru - Life, Growth and Movement

“Here’s to the guys that we love, here’s to the guys that love us, if the guys we love don’t love us then screw them and here’s to US!!!”

My good friend and sassy superior, Kerri and I were sitting at lunch discussing our failed relationships wondering what WE did wrong.  Then it occurred to us over chips and salsa how much time we spend talking about, thinking about, wondering about the opposite sex.  We decided to take a stand, literally because our lunch was over.  Today we are taking back our identities. We are taking back the girls we once were. We are not going to wait around for someone else to help us make decisions. We are doing what makes US happy, fulfilling our dreams and aspirations. So this blog is dedicated to ladies that are ready to take it back and live their lives for them. This is not a man-hating blog…in fact it is just the opposite. We love them too much and have lost who we are and things we want to accomplish. Whether you are single, married or in a relationship you don’t have to lose who you are and the things you want to do. And so we begin our journey that we are excited to share with all of you.

DAY 1 – We are going indoor rock climbing. This is something that we have always wanted to do but kept making excuses. NO MORE EXCUSES!! Today we will conquer the rock and step by step make it to the top.  Follow us every day for the adventures, laughs, tears as 2 newly single girls navigate their way….

We welcome your comments and suggestions and if you are in the area you may join us for events.
